Beachgoers warned to avoid dangerous seas
Members of the public have been warned to stay out of the water because of dangerous rough seas.
A spokesman for the Department of Parks said that high surf signs had been posted along South Shore beaches and public parks.
“As a public safety precaution, residents and visitors who plan to visit the beach or enter the ocean are strongly urged to avoid swimming in these conditions or exercise extreme caution,” he said.
“Unsettled ocean currents and dangerous rip tides pose significant risks.
“Please be aware that no lifeguards are on duty this week at Horseshoe Bay Beach.
“The Department of Parks urges all beach goers to prioritise safety by adhering to posted warnings and staying informed about current conditions.”
According to the Bermuda Weather Service marine forecast, a small-craft warning will be in effect this afternoon and evening.
