Ignite Bermuda opens for ninth cohort
Ignite’s free, award-winning Entrepreneurial Accelerator Programme is open for applications for its ninth cohort with a deadline of October 20 and an open house tomorrow.
Since launching in May 2019, Ignite has supported more than 500 entrepreneurs, fostering job creation and promoting diversity in Bermuda.
Those accepted into the core programme will gain access to a state-of-the-art co-working space, workshops, personalised enablement sessions and valuable mentorship opportunities.
Priya Suagh, cofounder of communications firm Niche Bermuda and cohort eight resident adviser, shared her experience of the Accelerator Programme: "Ignite took my business from concept to [virtual] ribbon-cutting in six months. The leadership team made me realise my company's [and my own] untapped potential. The possibilities are endless."
Organisers said in a statement: “This is a life-changing opportunity for anyone with a vision to build a business that creates a better Bermuda.
“Apply today and transform your future while creating jobs and opportunities for your community!
“This year, Ignite is once again partnering with Bermuda Ocean Prosperity Programme and Bermuda Health Council to encourage and support applications from entrepreneurs innovating in the blue economy and healthcare sectors.”
Blue economy refers to the sustainable use of ocean resources for economic growth, improved livelihoods, and increased jobs while preserving the health of ocean ecosystems.
Bermuda’s Blue Economy Strategy aims to facilitate sustainable fisheries, expand sustainable marine tourism, accelerate the clean energy transition, and increase blue investment and blue technologies on the island.
The Bermuda Health Council, the regulatory body responsible for ensuring the sustainability and accessibility of Bermuda’s health system, aims to attract entrepreneurs with solutions to non-communicable chronic diseases, mental health conditions and Bermuda’s ageing population.
