‘Village gathering’ postponed by a week
A free event for parents and children has been postponed until next weekend.
Glenn Fubler, who is involved in organising the event, said “feedback from relevant authorities” have led to it being rescheduled from October 12 to October 19.
The “village gathering” at Victor Scott Primary School will have resources for adults, activities for children and refreshments courtesy of Bermuda Union of Teachers and will be held from 4pm until 5.30pm.
Mr Fubler, from Imagine Bermuda, said earlier that the event was inspired by people who fought for free education on the island more than 70 years ago.
He explained: “In 1949, that school year, [education] for primary students was free and is an example of ordinary people taking action to change and transform their society.
“We are drawing from that spirit in 2024 because we know there are some challenges in the community.
“We want parents to know they are not alone at all, and that the village is here to work with them.”
