A teenage rider who collided with and injured another motorcylist while trying to overtake them in Southampton will be sentenced next month.

Jashuntae Moore, 19, admitted causing Jokai Fox grievous bodily harm by riding a bike without due care and attention when she appeared in court yesterday.

The case was originally sent to the Supreme Court, but was returned to Magistrates’ Court.

The court heard that Moore, from Sandys, collided with Mr Fox, who was also on a bike, while trying to overtake him along Middle Road on October 13, 2022.

Mr Fox sustained a fractured shoulder blade, dislocated ankle and other injuries during the incident.

Moore, who was 17 at the time of the collision, and her pillion passenger were also injured.

Nicole Smith, Moore’s lawyer, said her client suffered from memory loss since the collision, which she said was caused by the “folly of youth”.

Moore apologised to the court for the incident, which she struggles to remember, and mentioned her dream of becoming a veterinarian.

Magistrate Maria Sofianos ordered a community service report for Moore, adjourned the case to November 28 for sentencing and extended her bail until that time.
