Youth leaders attend training workshop
Youth workers have united for a workshop to strengthen connections and learn new skills to better assist the young.
The "Cultivating Connections" workshop, held last Saturday at the Willowbank Resort, was organised by the Mirrors programme in partnership with Quantum Learning Global.
It “brought together a diverse group of parents, educators and youth workers committed to strengthening Bermuda’s young people”, a government spokeswoman said.
The event was attended by Tinée Furbert, the Minister of Youth, Social Development and Seniors.
Calling February’s inaugural workshop a success, Ms Furbert highlighted her ministry’s commitment to youth development programmes, ensuring that adults who work closely with young people get fully trained.
She added: “The Mirrors programme continues to play a vital role in shaping the future by equipping those who guide our youth with the skills to nurture and inspire them.”
The spokeswoman called the workshop “a community-driven experience that celebrates the vital role of relationships in youth development”.
She added: “Through interactive sessions, participants explored best practices for fostering emotional resilience and social growth in young people.
“The atmosphere of collaboration and shared purpose was palpable, as attendees engaged with one another to explore innovative approaches to education and youth engagement.”
The workshop focused on developing practical strategies for creating strong, supportive connections with youth and strengthening bonds among parents, educators and youth workers.
Mirrors programme manager Kim Jackson expressed her pride in the event’s success and the community’s continued support.
She said: “It’s inspiring to see such a wide range of people — parents, educators, youth workers — come together with a shared commitment to improving the lives of our young people.
“This is how we create lasting change — through unity, shared knowledge, and a deep dedication to the next generation.”
