Road works and a cycle race will affect traffic throughout the island in the coming weeks, the Ministry of Public Works has announced.

A statement advised motorists in Sandys to use caution during the Bermuda Triathlon Association and Cambridge Beaches races on Sunday.

Cyclists will proceed from Cambridge Beaches on to Mangrove Bay Road, towards Dockyard, then turn around at Maritime Road, along the lower level of Freeport Road and return to the hotel.

Police and race marshals will monitor the area from 7.30am until 9.30am, but the route will not be closed to traffic.

The ministry added that two areas will be reduced to one lane of traffic starting Monday, when workers begin cleaning a borehole along Palmetto Road in Pembroke.

Work will be done from 7.30am until 5pm and is expected to finish on October 31. Motorists can detour via Dutton Avenue and Bishop Spencer Road during this time.

A team will also start work on fencing and curbing on North Shore Road in Smith’s, from Flatts Village to Jennings Road.

Work will proceed from 7.30am to 4pm on weekdays until November 29, with drivers advised to use Middle Road up Flatts Hill or Jennings Road.

In St George’s, a section of Wellington Slip Road will go to one lane for a borehole cleaning from October 31 to November 5.

Work will proceed from 7.30am to 5pm on weekdays.

Additionally, on the weekend of November 9 and 10, Pitts Bay Road in Pembroke will be closed from Waterloo Lane to Woodbourne Avenue to accommodate a crane lift.

The ministry apologised for any inconvenience to the public.
