Music superstar Beyoncé Knowles was spotted wearing jewellery designed by a Bermudian couple.

Last Saturday, the celebrity posted a photograph on Instagram wearing a ring from Davidrose Studio, which was later picked up and circulated by fan accounts.

Rose and David Zuill, the couple who run the studio, said they learnt about it while attending a children’s birthday party.

“We started screaming,” Mrs Zuill said. “I couldn’t breathe. Everyone at the party was like ‘what in the world is going on?’

“It was unimaginable, incredible, amazing — every word I can think of.

“Truly, truly a dream come true.”

Beyoncé’s outfit was designed by Shiona Turini, another Bermudian who has designed multiple celebrity outfits and costumes for films.

The superstar wore it to the Los Angeles Philharmonic to see Eldorado Ballroom, a show by her sister, Solange Knowles.

Ms Turini has been styling “Queen Bee” since last year after she joined the pop star on her Renaissance concert tour.

The designer listed the Davidrose’s work in a New York Times article headlined The Jewelry Shiona Turini Never Takes Off.

Mrs Zuill said that the piece, the Drop of the Ocean cocktail ring, had been created with Bermuda blue stone and was made to reflect the island’s waters.

She added that while Davidrose was an “internationally recognised brand”, she never expected to see her jewellery on a superstar such as Beyoncé.

Mrs Zuill said: “It’s an eye-catching stone and [when] styled by Shiona alongside a multicolour suit, it really pops.

“We are all just so full of emotion and gratitude to Shiona that she would choose to highlight our design in that way.

“And, we know that Beyoncé wouldn’t wear something she didn’t like, so, as artists, to be affirmed by one of the greatest artists of all time, we are just overwhelmed.”

The Zuills said that with this sudden spotlight, their own business has skyrocketed in popularity.

Davidrose’s Instagram account grew by 2,000 followers almost overnight after the couple reposted the images on their account.

The business received hundreds of e-mails and orders regarding the Drop of the Ocean cocktail ring, with some sizes having already sold out.

“It’s hard to process it all,” Mrs Zuill said. “We’ve always been a global brand, but this will take us to another level.

“This has cemented us in Bermudian culture as a key brand and reinforces the potential that Bermudian artisans have.

“Our small island, this tiny little rock, has such talent.

“Look at Shiona — with her own career, she’s already shown us what’s possible.

“And now, she is so dedicated to hyping up Bermuda and Bermudians at every step of the way.

“We are so proud and thankful that she sees our brand as deserving this sort of recognition.”

Mrs Zuill added: “This has been an incredible year for us.

“Designing rings for Bermuda’s Olympians was already such an honour and now this — Beyoncé.

“We are beyond appreciative for all of the purchases, comments, likes and shares, and really excited to see what happens next.”
