Too many hands spoil the post

Dear Sir,
I was under the impression that mail was handled by the Bermuda General Post Office, sorted and sent to a post office in the country of destination.
The post office has a sorting facility at the airport. Why is the mail being scanned by Skyport? This means our mail is being handled by non-postal workers.
Does this violate the rules of operation of the post office?
