Derrick Brangman sweeps 2024 BCB awards

St David’s captain Derrick Brangman picked up five awards at the Bermuda Cricket Board’s 2024 prizegiving ceremony on Saturday night.

Brangman was on hand to collect the honours for MVP and most wickets in the 50 Overs Premier Division, while also being named MVP in the Athene T20 First Division and collecting trophies for most runs and most wickets in that league.

Oronde Bascome, of St George’s, was the leading runscorer in the 50 Overs First Division. Malachi Jones, of Warwick Workmen’s Club, was chosen as MVP of the 50 Overs First Division, with Keegan Jones the leading wickettaker and Southampton Rangers’ Dalin Richardson the leading runscorer.

Kamau Leverock was the leading runscorer in the T20 Premier Division, with Jaiden Manders picking up most wickets. Dominic Sabir was named the league’s MVP.

Luke Horan and Malachi Jones were among the award winners at BCB 2024 awards ceremony

Luke Horan picked up the award for Emerging Player of the Year, with Precious Smith named Emerging Umpire of the Year. Alex Knight was given the honour of Umpire of the Year, Jared Rego the Scorer of the Year, and Somerset’s Reid Jones named Groundsman of the Year.

Clay Smith and Lorenzo Tucker were named coaches of the year in the Premier Division and First Division respectively.

Former St George’s president Neil Paynter was honoured in recognition of his long service with umpire Roger Dill given the Icon Award.
