Woman sentenced to DUI Court

A woman who was stopped by police in Southampton has been ordered to take part in a drink-driver’s court treatment programme.

Jahnikka Young, 43, admitted driving a car while impaired by alcohol when she appeared in Magistrates’ Court yesterday.

The court heard that police saw Young drive over the centre line and on to oncoming traffic several times on September 28.

Young, from Warwick, was unsteady on her feet when exiting the car and police smelt alcohol on her breath.

Senior magistrate Maxanne Anderson ordered that Young take part in DUI Court beginning on November 5, released her on $2,500 bail until that time and disqualified her from driving all vehicles until further notice.
