New taxi company releases transportation app
Newly formed taxi company Central Dispatch has released Ride.bm, an app aimed at modernising transportation hire in Bermuda.
The company formed late last year after the merger of former rivals Bermuda Island Taxi and Premier Coop.
“We’re incredibly proud of the history behind 295-4141 [the longtime number for Bermuda Island Taxi] and the role it played in Bermuda’s transportation story,” Central Dispatch general manager Neli Outerbridge said. “This app is a continuation of that legacy, but it is also a step forward.”
Ride.bm is similar to ride-hailing platforms such as Uber. Users can book a ride with only a few taps, view the approaching vehicle in real time on the map, and even choose the size of their vehicle. Additionally, rides can be booked in advance.
The company’s website advertises a range of vehicles from standard taxis to limos and tour buses, and includes links to trucking, tour, delivery and airport transfer services, among other things.
For those who prefer a more traditional approach, the app seamlessly integrates with Central Dispatch’s 24/7 call service. Whether booking through the app, website or by calling 295-4141, users can receive real-time updates on their ride status.
“The team at Central Dispatch has worked tirelessly to introduce Ride.bm to more users across the island, reinforcing its presence and making the ride-booking experience as smooth as possible,” a spokesman for the company said. “With recent updates and ongoing customer support, Ride.bm has become the go-to solution for those seeking dependable, safe, and convenient rides across Bermuda.”
The Ride.bm app can be downloaded on the App Store or Google Play.
