Bermuda market veteran Andrew Gibbs has been appointed as a non-executive director to the board of Aegis Managing Agency Ltd, the managing agent of Lloyd's syndicate 1225 (Aegis London).

Martin Bride, former group finance director of Beazley plc, was appointed in the same capacity.

Tom Busher, non-executive chairman of Aegis London, said: “Martin and Andrew are exceptional additions to our board, building the scope and depth of our insurance sector expertise. Their insights will be invaluable.”

Mr Gibbs spent more than 37 years in the market on-island, including as a partner at EY, and in executive capacities at Ace Bermuda, Ace Global Re, Validus Holdings and AmTrust International Insurance.

He was chief operating officer of PartnerRe before leaving the post in March.
