Charity aims high with Toys for Tots Christmas target
A charity and bank have joined forces to go big on a Christmas collection of toys to donate to children.
Butterfield Bank and the Coalition for the Protection of Children are continuing the Toys for Tots tradition with an island-wide collection campaign.
Jody Feldman, Butterfield’s managing director in Bermuda, said: “Butterfield is proud to be supporting Toys for Tots once again this year.
“We are ready to receive unwrapped gift donations from employees, clients and members of the public and have collection boxes in each of our banking centres across the island.
“This is a wonderful way for our community to come together and help the Coalition for the Protection of Children in their mission to spread goodwill during the season of giving.”
Kelly Hunt, the CPC’s executive director, added: “We are both excited and grateful to welcome Butterfield on board as our community sponsor.
“The holidays can be an incredibly challenging time for families who are struggling to make ends meet.
“Toys for Tots aims to bring some extra joy and holiday spirit to support families who need our help.
“We see first-hand how much of a difference these gifts can make, and we wouldn’t be able to do it without the generous support of everyone involved and, of course, the incredible generosity of the public.
“Our goal this year is to achieve a new record of 2,500 donated items, so we ask you to give generously once again and make sure no child has to go without this season.”
From now until Monday, December 9, people can donate new toys for children, up to the age of 12, gift cards for teenagers, and vouchers for parents to use on clothing, groceries or utilities.
After the drive, the charity will distribute the items to families in mid-December.
Donations can be dropped off at:
• Butterfield’s banking centres at Front Street, St George’s and Somerset
• Annex Toys at Phoenix
• Arnold’s discount warehouse
• Gorham’s
• People’s Pharmacy
• PriceRite stores in Mill’s Creek and in Warwick
Donations must be unwrapped so the CPC can make sure the right gift goes to the right family member.
