Drone display to light up the skies over Hamilton Harbour
Hamilton Harbour is to be lit up by hundreds of drones performing a choreographed dance next Wednesday night.
The light show — the first-ever drone event on the island — has been organised to mark the opening of the Butterfield Bermuda Championship golf tournament, which tees off at Port Royal Golf Course on November 14.
The display will feature 250 drones in a 15-minute performance that will tell the story of Bermuda.
Danielle Carrera, the tournament director, said: “We are very excited to be bringing the first-ever drone show to Bermuda as we welcome everyone to the island for the 2024 Butterfield Bermuda Championship.
“The show itself is for part of our welcome celebration for participants but reflects our ongoing efforts to bring fresh, new community initiatives to the tournament.
“Having been awarded Bermuda’s Best Spectator Event in 2023, we are keen to do more this year and so if you haven’t got your tickets yet for the tournament, make sure you do.”
Organisers said that Front Street would be the ideal place to watch the drone show, which starts at 8.30pm.
According to the Bermuda Civil Aviation Authority, the drones will be flying at an altitude of 1,500 feet. The authority has directed that any drones or other aircraft not involved in the display will not be permitted to fly.
