With less than a month to go until the Christmas Boat Parade, the City of Hamilton has announced an extension for registration.

Boat owners will have extra time to join in the popular holiday event on December 7, which can be watched from 6.30pm until 9pm at the No 1 car park.

The deadline to sign up is now set for November 21 — with City Hall boosting the grand prize for the winner of the best overall boat to a two-night stay at the Hamilton Princess & Beach club, in addition to a $1,500 Belco gift voucher.

The people’s choice prize at second place will receive a $1,000 PW Marine gift voucher, while the best traditional Christmas message, at third place, will win a $500 Rubis gift voucher.

Additional trophies will be awarded for best community message, most original, most humorous and children’s choice.

The boat parade application form can be found at the City of Hamilton site online.

Spectators can follow the action on Hamilton Harbour from the City’s viewing village and kids zone, which will feature a variety of food vendors.

Viewers can also cast their votes for their favourite entry.

You must be Registered or to post comment or to vote.
