Nearly 100 runners took to the grounds of Astwood Park on Saturday as the Bermuda National Athletics Association held its fourth meeting of the season.

Some of Bermuda’s brightest track and field talents made the switch to grass on an overcast day, with the fastest time in the adult three-mile races coming from Jake Smith.

Smith, who finished seventh in the 1,500 metres at the Carifta Games this year, completed the course in 15min 22.27sec as he raced alone in the 17-19 male age group.

In the younger age groups, Giselle Reid-Rubaine was victorious in a field of 19 in the girls’ under-10 race over a mile, finishing in 6:11.66, which was less than three seconds ahead of Kamari Brooks (6:14.07). Naomi Nusum finished third. (6:33.43)

Nolan Horrobin came out on top in the boys’ under-10 event, winning in a time of 5:41.68. Ethan Anderson (6:00.59) and Alistair Friend (6:31.88) made it on to the podium.

Evelyn Fahy (5:49.04) and Adrian Myers (5:31.36) came out on top for runners aged 10 or 11. Fahy beat Kayuni Simmons (6:10.67) and Peggy Forster (6:35.58), while Myers prevailed over Jemani Scott (5:42.90) and David Todd (6:13.15).

The distance increased to two miles for those aged 12 and 13, with Sukanya Jobson coming out on top (11:37.01) ahead of Zara Bule (11:53.02) and Elena Bortoli (12:26.12). Spencer Haldeman (10:36.08) took the honours for the boys, beating Timothy Pearman (11:11.12) and Caelan Cabral (11:17.66)

Amaris Munya won the girls’ race in the 14 and older age group, winning in a time of 12:10.34 ahead of Jaeda Grant) 12:48.07) and And Azari Jones (12:50.91). Dylan Eiselt produced a superb time of 9:39.85 to edge out Gianluca Bortoli (9:44.04) and Sanchez Smith in the boys’ race.

The event was not just for youngsters with Vivienne Lochhead winning the three-mile contest for runners aged 50-59 in 19:28.66, while Zina Jones (24:19.80) was victorious in the race for those aged 60-69
