The Royal Bermuda Regiment has once again invited the public to experience a day in the life of a soldier at its upcoming open day.

The event was designed to give people a deeper understanding of the how the RBR operates.

A regiment spokesman explained: “The open day is a chance for people to take a look at who we are, what we do and where the Royal Bermuda Regiment can take them — without any sense of pressure or obligation.

“It’s an informal event that offers plenty of opportunities for anyone interested to ask questions and, if they wish, to consider further whether the Regiment might be a good fit for them.”

Activities include a tour of Warwick Camp, a rundown of the organisation’s history and a visit to the RBR Coastguard’s base in Sandys.

Attendees will also have a chance to witness a battalion-wide training exercise taking place at several locations on the island.

This training will involve drills including patrols, communications procedures and public order scenarios.

Attendees are encouraged to interact with soldiers and officers to learn more about their experiences while serving in the RBR.

Most members of the regiment are reservists prepared to serve during both routine and emergency situations.

The open day is aimed at legal Bermuda residents aged between 18 and 32 years old, but is open to anyone up to the maximum enlistment age of 52.

The event will run from 9am to 1pm. Lunch will be provided.
