Pembroke care home organises Christmas fair

An historically listed care home for seniors is hosting a Christmas fair this weekend to support its community programme.

The family-friendly event at Westmeath Residential and Nursing Care Home at 36 Pitts Bay Road in Pembroke will run from 11am to 3pm on Saturday.

Residents can purchase food and crafts from vendors at the event and join in a raffle set to draw at 3pm.

A spokeswoman said entertainment would include performances from various Gombey troupes and the In Motion Dance group.

Westmeath experienced financial difficulties after the Covid-19 pandemic and had to launch an aggressive fundraising campaign.

The spokeswoman said the facility has been working to successfully restore the community programme since.

She added: “The programme has been running successfully, but not at full capacity.

“We continue to advertise and promote the programme and this Christmas fair is another incentive to create more community awareness for Westmeath.”
