Cleaver-wielding man sent to drug court
A man who boarded a bus with a meat cleaver has been ordered to start a treatment programme next week.
Mikhail Butterfield, 34, admitted having the weapon when he appeared in Magistrates’ Court in September, and reappeared in court yesterday for sentencing.
The court heard that Butterfield, from Pembroke, boarded a public bus with the cleaver, which had a blade longer than three inches, in March 2023.
Police were informed of the offence and arrested Butterfield when he got off the bus in Southampton.
Senior magistrate Maxanne Anderson ordered that Butterfield observe Drug Treatment Court beginning on December 3 and extended his bail until that time.
