Senior gets two-year roads ban

A man who injured a motorist in Pembroke has been disqualified from driving all vehicles for two years.

Dennis Morgan, 79, admitted causing Derek Galloway grievous bodily harm by driving a taxi without due care and attention when he appeared in Magistrates’ Court today.

The court heard that Morgan, from Hamilton Parish, pulled out in front of Mr Galloway, who was riding a bike, along Dutton Avenue on November 4, 2023.

Mr Galloway sustained two broken ribs and a fractured elbow after colliding with Morgan’s taxi.

In addition to the ban, magistrate Maria Sofianos fined Morgan $1,800 for the offence and gave him until January 31 to pay.
