Caines family declare food drive an overwhelming success
The Caines family have extended their gratitude to all who contributed to their food donation drive for people in need.
The event, which was held at the Seventh-day Adventist Youth Centre in Hamilton yesterday, was aimed at supporting charities and organisations providing meals to at-risk individuals experiencing critical food shortages.
Maxanne Caines, co-ordinator, said the event was a success as members of the community brought items including toiletries, non-perishable and perishable goods, baby food, diapers and clothing.
Ms Caines said: “The generosity shown by the people and businesses of Bermuda has been overwhelming. This united effort to support our community is a testament to the island’s spirit of compassion and giving.”
The charities to benefit from the drive are Teen Haven, Meals on wheels, The Salvation Army, the Hamilton Seventh-Day Adventist Church, Home and the Eliza DoLittle Society.
Sponsors included Marsh, BGA, Sports R Us, Henry Swann, Belvin’s, RenRe and Supermart.
