Winners of Bermuda National Trust art contest announced
The winners of the Bermuda National Trust’s student art competition have been announced.
Artwork for the contest, this year themed Worth Protecting, was submitted by 145 primary, middle and senior school students from across the island.
Milena Millett took the first prize in the junior category with an award of $300.
Her entry depicted in a triangle all she believed should be protected in Bermuda including the ocean, the people and culture, the homes, and flora and fauna.
In the senior category, first place and a prize of $500 went to Dhakiya Burch-Waldron for a colourful image of a girl holding a turtle, surrounded by corals and reef fish.
In second place, with a prize of $300, was Luke Douglas, and in third place was Mariah Matthews, who won $175.
Honourable mentions were awarded to Zoe Mir and Mackenzie Lewis.
An exhibition of the winning pieces will be on display in the reception area of competition sponsor Sompo International at Waterloo House from December 2 to 13.
