Delray Rawlins and his Sussex team-mates bowed out of the Vitality Blast T20 at the quarter-finals after a century from captain Moeen Ali guided Worcestershire to an eight- wicket win at the Ist Central County Ground in Hove today.

Sussex scored 184 for six after being sent to bat. Worcestershire replied with 187 for two in 17.4 overs with England all-rounder Ali hitting 121 not out after being put down three times.

Sussex new-ball pair Reece Topley and Oliver Robinson claimed the only wickets to fall before Ali completed his team’s victory with 14 balls to spare with a six. Slow left-armer Rawlins went for eight runs in the only over he bowled.

Earlier, Sussex posted a competitive total led by opener Philip Salt’s solid knock of 72 from 40 balls. He reached his half-century from 31 balls and along with Luke Wright, the captain, produced an 84-run opening partnership.

However, Sussex suffered a collapse which saw four wickets fall for 27 runs, among the casualties Rawlins who was dismissed for five after Ali took a return catch off his bowling.
