Bermuda’s show jumpers competed in the Bermuda round of the 2024 Caribbean Equestrian Association Regional Jumping Challenge on Saturday.

With the competition rules allowing countries to avoid the logistics of travelling, the riders are assessed by a judge who travels to each country, with Bermuda’s Pamela Mahoney handed the task for this year’s competition.

Caribbean countries including Jamaica, Barbados, Cayman Islands, Haiti and Trinidad & Tobago are taking part in the competition and they will need to beat the scores of Samantha Cooper, Courtney Bromby and Michael Rodrigues if they are to grab a taste of glory.

Cooper, riding Kamei Ruf, came out on top at the 0.85m height, beating Abby Bardgett on Finnomenal AV and Ryan Wright on Up Up And Away. Nina Wehmeyer finished fourth and Sophie Greenway fifth.

Bromby and her mount Worth the Wait, was successful at 0.95m with a clear round of jumping, beating Philip Correia and Poker Face.

Rodrigues, riding Rambo, achieved first place at 1.05m after becoming the only one of the six riders in the division to go clear. Alex McMartin finished second with Correia third. Sierra Wolfe, Kirista Rabain and Kamali Tucker were fourth, fifth and sixth respectively.

At the 0.75m height, Logan Flood came out on top aboard the exotically named Wild Things Island Adventure, finishing ahead of Michaiah Bremar and Melody Greenslade
