Stores in Hamilton to open late for Christmas shopping

Shops in Hamilton will stay open late this month in a Chamber of Commerce initiative aimed at supporting local retailers.

The Chamber’s retail division is launching the Hamilton Mingle & Jingle event series, with shops staying opening to 9pm.

As part of the scheme, Reid Street will be transformed into a “pedestrian-only holiday shopping haven, creating a lively and festive atmosphere for the entire community” said the Chamber.

A spokeswoman added: “This exciting initiative aims to rejuvenate the local holiday shopping experience while fostering community engagement and supporting Bermudian-based retailers during the busiest shopping season of the year.”

She said the series was designed with three key goals:

• Encourage Bermudians and visitors to shop locally, supporting Bermudian-based retailers and strengthening the economy.

• Provide a family-friendly, festive environment that brought the community together in celebration of the season.

• Re-establish late-night holiday shopping as a cherished tradition in Hamilton, making it a highlight of the holiday calendar.
