Swimmers take part in Winter Age Group Championships
Jack Harvey returned to Bermuda to compete in the Winter Age Group Championships at the weekend.
Harvey achieved the highest individual score for a male athlete, earning 755 FINA points for his performance in the 200 metres backstroke, where he clocked 1min 55.97sec. The 21-year-old, who represented Bermuda in the Olympic Games in Paris this year, also claimed victories in the 100 metres backstroke and the 100 metres freestyle.
Jorgia White delivered the standout individual performance among the female swimmers, earning 566 points in the 200 metres freestyle with a time of 2:13.31. White also secured the high points award for female swimmers aged 15 and over, accumulating 3,406 points across seven events, ahead of Lila Connolly (3,015) and Emilia Dunkerley (2,289).
Logan Jones topped the boys' 15-and-over standings with 3,303 points, followed by Thomas Cechini (3,095) and Jamie MacFarlane (2,575).
In the 10-and-under category, Eva Desjardins won the girls’ competition with 1,553 points, with Sloane Wright (1,061) finishing second and Madeleine Friend (583) third. Owen Fosker took the boys' title with 891 points, ahead of Joseph Twilley (531) and Niklas Bock (475).
Evelyn Fahy and Jacob Leclerc excelled in the 11-to-12 age group. Fahy edged out Tabitha Ball (1,642 to 1,640 points) in the girls’ division, with Iris Duda third on 1,606 points. Leclerc claimed the boys’ category with 1,394 points, ahead of Ethan Smith (1,296) and Walker Smith (1,276).
Scarlett Spurling dominated the girls’ 13-to-14 division with 2,825 points, followed by Isla Cooze (2,535) and Freya Lau (2,359). Dominic Wright led the boys’ competition in the same age group with 2,692 points, completing the podium were Gabriel Maranzana (2,420) and Rory Shepherd (2,191).
