Teenager suffers head injuries in crash

A teenager is in hospital with head injuries after a crash in Smith’s last night.

According to police, the collision between two motorcycles occurred shortly after 10pm at the junction of Verdmont Road and St Mark’s Road.

A police spokesman said: “Details are limited at this time. However, it has been confirmed that the riders of both bikes — a 19-year-old male and a 23-year-old female — were transported by ambulance to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for treatment of their injuries.

“The male motorcycle rider appears to have suffered a serious head injury and was unresponsive.

“The extent of the injuries sustained by the female victim remains unknown at this time.”
