Prowler seen driving stolen van jailed
A man who took two vehicles has been sentenced to 20 months behind bars.
Dean O’Brien, 63, admitted taking the vehicles, stealing a bag and prowling around two residences when he appeared in Magistrates’ Court on Friday.
A car that had been reported stolen was located in front of A&M bulk store on Devil’s Hole Hill in Smith’s on September 30, the court heard.
Security footage showed O’Brien, from St George’s, in the car, which the owner had parked on Pomander Road in Paget.
Police also saw O’Brien driving a van belonging to Spar Yard, which had been reported stolen, in St George’s on October 11.
O’Brien took a bag containing almost $1,000 worth of tools from the van.
He prowled around homes in Hamilton Parish on October 6 and 21, and has been held in custody since October.
Magistrate Craig Attridge ordered that time spent in custody be taken into account in O’Brien’s 20-month prison sentence.
