The St George's Swing Bridge (File photograph)

The northbound lane of the Swing Bridge in St George’s is to close for repairs until the end of March, the Ministry of Public Works announced.

The ageing structure, which links St George’s with St David’s, was built in 1964 and has required rehabilitation works three times in recent years.

The lane closure began today and will continue until March 31, from 8am to 5pm.

Drivers were reminded to take care when crossing, to keep mindful of pedestrians and be ready for potential delays.

Traffic control will be under the direction of Sunrise Construction Ltd representatives with barricades and traffic lights.

Queries can be directed to Bernard Kunst of Sunrise at 541-3387.
