Emergency services praised for commitment during holidays
Michael Weeks, the Minister of National Security, has thanked the island’s uniformed services for their hard work to make the holiday season safe.
In a statement, Mr Weeks said: “Every one of our five uniformed services worked tirelessly to ensure the safety and security of our community over the last two weeks.
“Their dedication to duty, especially during a time when many are away from their families, has not gone unnoticed or unappreciated.”
Mr Weeks said that the holiday period, including the Christmas and new year holidays, was relatively peaceful with only minor incidents reported.
“This reflects not only the vigilance of our frontline services but also the efforts of the community to ensure safe and responsible behaviour,” he said.
“As we return to our normal routines, I hasten to remind the public that keeping our island safe is a shared responsibility.
“I hope that we carry the spirit of care and co-operation we saw over the holidays into the new year.”
Mr Weeks urged the community to keep the “positive momentum” into this year to ensure the island remained safe and welcoming to all.
