Emotional intelligence expert Sylvia Baffour is to deliver the keynote address at the third annual Women’s Day Gala presented by the Women in Reinsurance organisation.

The event will be held on March 7 at the Hamilton Princess & Beach Club and coincides with International Women’s Day.

The gala celebrates the role of women in Bermuda’s reinsurance industry. It honours a key contributor to the industry with the 2025 Woman of the Year Award.

The award commemorates a reinsurance professional who has made an outstanding contribution to both the success of her company and the continuing development of other professionals.

WiRe said Ms Baffour is the author of I Dare You to Care and innovator of the Dare to Care EI Framework.

She has worked with prominent organisations, including the World Bank, to make emotional intelligence a tangible tool for employees to use to navigate relationships and conflict, embrace change and enhance working environments.

Peta White, chairwoman of WiRe and president of Vantage Risk, said: “WiRe continues to be a catalyst for empowering and inspiring women in reinsurance, and we are proud to see our efforts grow year after year.

“As we gather to celebrate the achievements of women in this industry, we also look forward to hearing from Sylvia Baffour, whose expertise in emotional intelligence and empathy speaks to the core of our mission — creating workplaces where women and men alike can thrive, lead with purpose, and positively impact the world.

“The Women’s Day Gala is a testament to the strength of our community, and we are grateful for the continued support of our industry partners in making this celebration possible.”

Since starting in 2023, WiRe said, the event has grown to almost 300 attendees, and this year they can expect an elegant evening filled with local entertainment and a guest list representing the full spectrum of industry personnel.

WiRe said the event is made possible by support from industry partners including platinum partners Arch and Axa XL; gold partners Vantage Risk, MS Reinsurance, Brit Re and Athene; and silver partners Ariel Re, Hamilton, Conyers and QBE Re.

WiRe was formed in 2008 by a group of senior professional women in the reinsurance industry to encourage the development and promotion of women within the marketplace.

The group’s membership includes women from almost every reinsurance and brokerage firm in Bermuda as well as from local regulatory bodies, associations, and service providers.
