Bermudian-headquartered Hiscox, the global specialist insurer, has appointed Shali Vasudeva as its new group chief operations and technology officer, subject to regulatory approval.

Hiscox said she joins the company following five years as chief operating officer of Axa UK & Ireland, where she played a crucial role in driving digital transformation and operational efficiency.

The company said Ms Vasudeva has a proven track record of leading large-scale transformation projects and driving technological innovation in the insurance industry, which will be instrumental in realising Hiscox’s ambitious growth plans.

Aki Hussain, Hiscox Group chief executive, said: “Shali is no stranger to Hiscox, having led the change initiative for UK and Europe in the run-up to Brexit rules being implemented. Her wealth of experience and strategic vision will be invaluable as our operational and technological evolution continues.”

Ms Vasudeva added: “I am delighted to be back at Hiscox. With its strong history of excellence, bold ambition and unwavering commitment to innovation, I am excited to be part of the team and to build on the strong foundations that Stephane has laid for us.”

Ms Vasudeva’s predecessor in the COTO role, Stephane Flaquet, now departs the organisation.

Mr Hussain said: “Stephane has been a strong contributor to Hiscox for many years and has held a number of important senior leadership roles across the group. We wish him all the best with his next steps.”
