Hotel’s $15m upgrade set to complete in early spring
A $15 million renovation of the Bermudiana wing at the Hamilton Princess & Beach Club is expected to be completed in early spring.
The project began on November 18 to upgrade all 113 rooms in this section of the hotel located on the west side of Pitts Bay Road.
The general contractor for the project is Greymane Construction, with design team organisations Botelho Wood Architects and interior designer Pierre Josselin, of New York-based Pierre & Co Design Studio Inc.
The hotel said more than 100 tradesmen are working as a part of the redevelopment team per day.
Following construction, six one-bedroom suites will be available that can be converted into two-bedroom suites.
A spokeswoman for the hotel said: “All rooms in the upgraded Bermudiana wing will be elegant, well-appointed accommodations, offering luxury amenities.
“Décor will include a lighter colour palette with LED lighting, white oakwood furnishings in the living areas, granite features in the bathrooms with spa-like, deep soaking tubs in the suites, and much more.”
Tim Morrison, the general manager, said: “The Bermudiana wing renovation is a great occasion for Hamilton Princess & Beach Club.
“This is a wonderful commitment and investment by our local owners towards the ongoing evolution of the hotel, as we elevate the space to the standard of luxury, comfort and service that our guests have come to expect.”
Other local project assistance includes electrical contractor First Class Electrics; mechanical contractor Efficiency Ltd; plumbing/sprinkler contractor H&H Plumbing and Mechanical Ltd; tiling contractor Eminence Tile and Stone; data contractor Switchworx Ltd; marine contractor Crisson Construction; and fire alarm contractor BUE (BAC Universal Electric).
The harbourfront hotel, which opened in 1885, offers 380 guest rooms, including 43 suites, and more than 60,000 square feet of versatile indoor and outdoor reception and meeting rooms.
