Man faces suspended sentence, fine for wounding
A man who admitted wounding could face a suspended prison sentence, the Supreme Court heard on Friday.
The prosecution also proposed that Russell Lambert, 57, be ordered to pay a restitution fine of $855 for damaging a car windshield.
Lambert, from Pembroke, pleaded guilty in November to wounding and causing wilful damage during an incident on July 8, 2023.
He was initially charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm in connection with the incident, which he denied.
During the hearing on Friday, Puisne Judge Alan Richards heard that the Crown had proposed a two-year suspended prison sentence, leaving Lambert a free man as long as he remained on good behaviour.
Mr Justice Richards also considered a social inquiry report and a victim impact statement, although neither of these, nor the summary of evidence, were read out in court.
Mr Justice Richards adjourned the case until January 20 for sentencing, extending Lambert’s bail until then.
