Why I’m running as an independent candidate

Bermuda needs change and needs it now: Rolfe Commissiong was the Progressive Labour Party MP for Pembroke South East (Constituency 21) between December 2012 and August 2020, and the former chairman of the joint select committee considering the establishment of a living wage

Clifton Lambert, a blind Bermudian recently said four generations of women in his family now live in Britain. Why they do so is the reason I’m running.

I’m running to fight for Bermuda’s renewal and not its decline

I’m running to fight for Bermuda’s future and not its past

I’m running because I believe that healthcare and decent and affordable housing are a right and not a privilege.

I’m running because I believe our workers should have a living wage and our seniors should enjoy a livable income.

I’m running because I know as you do that the world of 1968 and 1998 has gone, and we now live in a world of rapid change and even greater peril.

I’m running to change a political system that is no longer sustainable, not for status or prestige

I’m running for the young people who worry about the struggles their parents are enduring in this unforgiving economy.

I’m running to ensure a Bermuda where Mr Lambert’s female kin can return home along with their 6,000 Bermudian “cousins”.

I’m running to serve Bermuda and Bermuda’s interest, not the party leader or the party.

I’m running run to get Belco to stop polluting its customers and their children.

I’m running as an independent in concert with others from this Movement for Independent Candidates who believe that Bermuda needs change and needs it now.

Clifton Lambert, as blind as he is, can see through David Burt. I run to tell you not to trust them — either party. Not this time. Make sure you go out to vote.
