Roadworks to affect traffic in three parishes

Roadworks

Roadworks will affect traffic in Sandys, Warwick and Devonshire, the Ministry of Public Works has announced.

Middle Road in Warwick, between Greendale Lane and Sleepy Hollow Lane, will be reduced to one lane of traffic until February 14.

The closure, which became effective on January 15, will be on weekdays from 7.30am to possibly 6pm.

The road is open to all traffic, which is being controlled by ministry representatives with traffic lights.

Motorists should detour via Burnt House Hill, Harbour Road and Tamarind Vale.

The ministry said that between February 12 and February 14, speed bumps are to be installed on Brighton Hill Road, Devonshire, between Middle Road and Watlington Road East.

The road will be closed on weekdays between 7.30am and 4pm and traffic will be detoured via Watlington Road West and Watlington Road East.

Access for property owners will be granted through this stretch of road.

Traffic will be controlled by ministry representatives.

The ministry said that from January 20 to February 5, paving works in Sandys will take place on Somerset Road at Scaur Hill.

The works will require a single-lane closure, which will be on weekdays from 7.30am through to possibly 6pm, as workers head east to Somerset Bridge.

Motorists should expect traffic-light delays and were urged to be cautious.

The ministry encouraged the full co-operation of the motoring public and apologised for any inconvenience the works may cause.

Questions about the works can be directed to principal highways engineer Tina Beer-Searle on 501-3044.
