Hamilton to raise several rates
Certain fees in Hamilton are to go up by 5 per cent from February 1.
A Corporation of Hamilton spokeswoman said: “The updated rates will help support City operating expenses and ensure the City continues to deliver high-quality services while maintaining its facilities to the highest standard.”
This increase will affect all rental venue fees, which have not risen since 2015 and were cut for some locations in 2021.
All-day parking fees at Bull’s Head and Elliott Street car parks will rise for the first time since 2014, from $5 to $6 per day, with monthly parking fees increasing from $100 to $120 and yearly permits going from $1,100 to $1,320.
All other parking rates and permits will remain the same.
Parks in Hamilton, the Pier Six complex and all City Hall facilities will be affected by the new fees.
The rates will have an impact on City-owned property rentals not subject to automatic rate adjustments, as well as all trenching and roadwork applications.
The spokeswoman added: “All other application and permit fees, including advertising rates for City banners, ports-related applications and vendor application fees, will remain the same”.
“Reduced rental rates for charitable organisations will continue as part of the City’s ongoing commitment to supporting local community-centric activities.
“We thank you for your understanding and co-operation as we implement these updates to ensure we continue serving the community effectively and sustainably.”
