Public buses will make detours from their regular routes over the weekend because of temporary road closures.

Services will be affected owing to the 2025 Bermuda Triangle Challenge Race weekend, which starts this evening.

According to the Department of Public Transportation, Front Street will be closed from about 5pm today for the Butterfield Mile race, which will affect buses coming into Hamilton.

Inbound routes 1, 2, 3, 7, and 8 will detour via Spurling Hill, turn right onto Court Street, and then left onto Victoria Street to reach the central terminal.

Front Street is expected to reopen by 11pm.

The weekend’s second event, the BF&M 10K and 5K Run and Walk, will take place tomorrow, with road closures expected to be in place between 8.30am and 11am.

The 10K will start from Frog Lane at 9am, continue on Montpelier Road to Middle Road, then towards Flatts Village.

Participants will then head west on North Shore Road on to Palmetto Road, to Frog Lane and finish at the National Sports Centre.

As a result, route 3 inbound buses will not service Middle Road beyond the intersection with Verdmont Road.

Routes 10 and 11 inbound buses will not service North Shore Road beyond Flatts Junction or Palmetto Road.

All inbound route 3, 10, and 11 buses will detour via Flatts Hill, left onto Verdmont Road, Collectors Hill, right onto South Road, right onto Point Finger Road, and then right onto Crow Lane continuing to Hamilton.

Outbound route 3 buses will detour via Spurling Hill, left onto Point Finger Road, left onto South Road, rejoining their normal route at Knapton Hill.

Outbound Routes 10 and 11 will operate as usual.

The race weekend will conclude with the PwC Bermuda marathon, half-marathon and half-marathon relay events on Sunday.

The 7.45am route 8 inbound bus will not service Front Street, instead detouring via Spurling Hill, right onto Court Street, and left onto Victoria Street to reach the central terminal.

All other buses will operate on their normal routes, though minor race-related delays may occur.

Normal service is expected to resume by 11am.
