Fundraising by staff at a reinsurance company resulted in donations to charity that totalled $240,000 last year.

The money was raised by people in Ariel Re‘s Bermuda and London offices through tag days, sponsorships and employee-giving matching schemes.

It was handed over to 35 charities and the total was $45,000 more than the amount raised in 2023, the company said.

Veronica King, chairwoman of the Ariel Re charity committee, explained: “We are very proud of our staff who have made amazing efforts again in 2024 to raise money for a number of great charities.

“As a responsible corporate citizen, Ariel Re takes great pride in corporate social responsibility initiatives like charity donations, which help those communities in which we work.”

Organisations that received money from the company’s Bermuda office included the Coalition for the Protection of Children, Family Centre’s Beyond Rugby programme, the Transformational Living Centre, Home, the St Baldrick’s Foundation, the Foster Parents Association, the Reading Clinic, Waterstart, the It Takes a Village Foundation and Youth Driving Change.

Sandy DeSilva, the executive director of Family Centre, said: “Ariel Re is making a significant difference in young people’s lives by helping to sustain a programme that supports and inspires youth to reach their full potential on and off the rugby field.”
