Two people have become chartered directors and 13 more have begun the journey towards the qualification in courses presented by the Bermuda branch of the Institute of Directors.

IoD chairman Gavin Bishop said he was delighted to see the increasing number of people obtaining professional director qualifications and sees it as a significant achievement for a jurisdiction as small as Bermuda.

The certificate in company direction is the first step, which consists of four courses: the role of the director and the board; strategy for directors; finance for non-finance directors; and leadership for directors.

The diploma in company direction is the next certificate before the final step of becoming a chartered director.

The IoD executive committee celebrated the following individuals:

Certificate in company direction: Richard Ambrosio, Krista Barnes, Denika Davis, Amanda Kisala, Caroline Komposch.

Diploma certificate holders: Dipak Varsani, Gillian McCann, Karen Martin, Michael Walsh, Sam Butler, Shivani Seth, Wayne Allan Smith, Megan Nesbitt.

Chartered directors: Gavin Bishop, Candace Steele.

The IoD Bermuda Ltd delivers the IoD professional development programme and informal continuing professional development training featuring subject experts and networking to its 230 resident members.

IoD Bermuda said its members represented diverse professionals from international and local, listed and unlisted, large and small, and for-profit and not-for-profit companies.

The next certificate in company direction cohort will begin in September/October.
