Votes can be cast for the first time by members of the public for Bermuda’s Woman of the Year.

A spokeswoman for the International Women’s Day Bermuda committee explained: “We have been celebrating International Women’s Day in Bermuda since 2016, and one of the most exciting highlights of this celebration is announcing our annual Woman of the Year.

“This year, we are thrilled to open the nomination process to the public, giving everyone the opportunity to actively participate in honouring the incredible achievements of women in Bermuda.”

Nominees must identify as female, be Bermudian and contribute to the community through volunteering, advocacy or professional achievements.

A statement explained: “The nominee’s efforts must reflect a positive and measurable impact on the lives of others, particularly in areas related to women’s empowerment, social justice, education, health or cultural development.”

The IWD committee will review each nomination and the winner will be announced at the International Women’s Day celebration on March 7.

Lawyer and activist Tammy Richardson received the award last year.
