Champions up against after day one of Bermuda Four-Ball tournament

Jevon Roberts is leading at halfway stage with partner Oliver Betschart

Jarryd Dillas and Damian Palanyandi will need to come from behind if they are to retain their Bermuda Four-Ball Championship title.

The pair, who have won the last four editions of the tournament, finished the first round in fourth place on one-over par, five shots behind leaders Jevon Roberts and Oliver Betschart, who top the leaderboard after shooting a 67 in the first round at Port Royal.

Betschart and Roberts are two shots clear of the team of James Roberts and Christopher Ford, who shot a two-under 69, with Roderick Forrest and Kirk Viehl a shot further back in third.

In the ladies’ competition, Ann Symonds and Tracy Burgess hold a commanding six-shot lead after shooting a one-over 72. Katrin Burnie and Linda Down occupy second, with Elizabeth Carpio and Lesley Balcombe tied for third with the team of Carine Brule and Tracy Nash on nine-over.

Things are a lot tighter in the senior men’s division with Sheldon Chychrun and Arthur Jones tied at the top of the leaderboard with Mark Ray and Michael Wells after both teams finished on three-over 74. They are three shots clear of Paul Cann and Michael Hamilton in third.

The final round takes place at Port Royal on Sunday with the action set to start on the first and tenth tee boxes at 7.30am
