Bermuda will be among 14 teams vying for six places in the ICC T20 World Cup 2020 in Australia at the final round of qualifying in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates, from October 18 to November 2.

Coach Herbie Bascome’s team advanced to the final round after finishing second behind Canada during the ICC T20 World Cup Americas Qualifier in Bermuda, which also involved the Untied States and Cayman Islands. In Dubai, the teams will compete in two groups, led by Scotland and the Netherlands who were joint winners of the previous qualifying tournament in 2015. Bermuda are in group A with Scotland, the Netherlands, Papua New Guinea, Namibia, Singapore and Kenya. Group B comprises UAE, Ireland, Oman, Hong Kong, Canada, Jersey and Nigeria.

Scotland, who are the top-ranked side in the tournament, will take on Singapore in the opening match at the ICC Academy 1 ground in Dubai, while the Netherlands will play Kenya later in the day at the same ground. Other opening-day matches will pit Test nation Ireland against Hong Kong and Oman taking on UAE at the Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi.

The top team from each group will advance to the semi-finals, thus securing direct qualification to the World Cup, with three more teams from each group involved in play-offs to determine the final four qualifiers.

The knockout stage of the World Cup Qualifiers will be played primarily at the Dubai International Stadium, with the play-offs played on October 29 and 30.

The semi-finals are set for November 1 with the third-place match and the final scheduled for November 2. The six qualifying teams will join the top ten teams in the ICC T20 rankings as at December 31, 2018, in Australia in 2020. Those teams are Afghanistan, Australia, Bangladesh, England, India, New Zealand, Pakistan, South Africa, Sri Lanka and the West Indies.
