Jake Smith and Jaeda Grant star in seniors cross-country race
Front Street Mile Champion Jake Smith continued his dominant form when winning the 2025 Bermuda School Sports Federation over-16 boys cross country race on Tuesday.
The Warwick Academy senior crossed the line at the Arboretum 44 seconds ahead of classmate Jackson Langley in a time of 14min 45sec. Khari Sharrieff, of Berkeley Institute rounded out the podium in third place with a time of 17:20.
Warwick Academy won the division with 19 points followed by Saltus Grammar with 55 points and The Berkeley Institute with 86 points.
Jaeda Grant, of Saltus Grammar School, led from start to finish to secure the over-16 girls title, finishing in 14:20. Somersfield Academy’s Carina Bortoli finished second in 14:40 with Warwick Academy’s Jorgia White third in 14:55.
Saltus won the division with 33 points, followed by Warwick Academy with 52 and The Berkeley Institute with 59 points.
Saltus swept the podium in the under-16 boys division. Dylan Eiselt was first home of the Saltus trio in an impressive 11:05. Sanchez Smith finished second with a time of 11:24, while Tobiah Goodchild took the third spot on the podium in 11:30.
Their performances helped Saltus to the team title with 32 points. Warwick Academy finished on 38 points with The Berkeley Institute coming third on 62 points.
Amaris Munya, from Warwick Academy, coasted to victory in the under-16 girls division with a time of 14:22. Berkeley’s Azari Jones finished just four seconds behind to take the silver medal, with Somersfield Academy’s Layla Crews third in 14:36.
Bermuda High School placed five runners in the top ten to claim the team title on 34 points. Berkeley finished second with 44, while Warwick Academy finished third on 71
The middle school meet takes place on Wednesday at the Arboretum at 1pm
