The founders of the Progressive Labour Party were celebrated today as the organisation marked its 62nd anniversary.

Members spent Founders Day reflecting on “the courage, vision and determination” of those who formed the party.

The party said: “On February 10, 1963, the PLP was established by a group of trailblazing Bermudians who believed in the power of the people and the necessity of change.

“We honour our esteemed founders: Walter Robinson, Dilton Cann, Wilfred Allen, Edward DeJean, Albert Peter Smith, Austin Wilson and Hugh ‘Ryo’ Richardson.

“Their unwavering commitment to social and economic justice paved the way for generations of Bermudians to live in a more equitable society.”
