Bermuda get night off as Canada take on Anguilla

Canada face bottom side Anguilla tonight

Bermuda get a night off today as the Concacaf Men’s Under-17 Qualifier continues.

After a defeat by Curaçao and victory over Anguilla in their first two matches, Bermuda sit third in group A on the same number of points as Canada and Curaçao, but have played a game more.

It is likely that Bermuda will have to close a three-point gap when they are next in action on Thursday, with the top two teams in the group taking on the bottom two sides at Flora Duffy Stadium.

Pre-tournament favourites Canada sent an ominous warning to their rivals when beating Turks & Caicos 6-0 in their opening match on Sunday.

Star man Andre Ali-Gayapersad scored twice for Canada, with Owen Graham-Roache, Shola Jimoh, Kevin Kahn, from the penalty spot, and Sergei Kozlovskiy also getting on the scoresheet.

Canada have qualified for eight of the 19 editions of the Fifa Under-17 World Cup, and will look to move one step closer to a ninth appearance when they take on Anguilla at 8pm.

Anguilla were outclassed 3-1 by Bermuda in their second game of the competition and lost 3-0 to Turks & Caicos in their opening encounter, so they could struggle against the group’s superpower.

Curaçao impressed many when beating Bermuda 6-1 on Friday night and they will be looking to set up a top-of-the-table clash with Canada on Thursday by beating Turks & Caicos. That match is scheduled to start at 3pm.
