Driver of damaged bike banned for 18 months

A drink-driver who was stopped by police in Southampton has been banned from the roads for 18 months.

Jeffrey Da Silva Andrade, 29, admitted riding his bike while impaired by alcohol when he appeared in Magistrates’ Court yesterday.

The court heard that police stopped Da Silva Andrade, from Hamilton Parish, on October 29.

Da Silva Andrade had road rash, was unsteady on his feet and his bike was damaged.

However, he denied drinking alcohol or being involved in a collision when talking to officers and was taken to the Hamilton Police Station.

In addition to the disqualification, Da Silva Andrade was fined $1,500 for the offence.
