Man stands trial for sexual exploitation

A man accused of sexually exploiting a child stood trial in Magistrates’ Court yesterday.

The man, 26, denied the offence when he appeared in court last year.

Neither the man nor girl, who is under the age of 14, can be identified for legal reasons.

The girl told the court that the man made her sexually touch him at his Warwick home between July 2016 and August 2018.

The alleged victim wrote about the incident in a journal, but did not tell her family until 2023 because she was “scared and disgusted”.

The girl’s mother said her daughter looked forward to visiting the man’s home until the alleged offence occurred.

The trial, before magistrate Auralee Cassidy, continues on Thursday and the man’s bail was extended until that time.
