The Earl Cameron Theatre at City Hall will remain closed until a broken air-conditioning unit can be repaired.

The theatre closed in September and all its scheduled events for 2024 were cancelled after an AC unit in the venue failed.

All booking applications for the theatre stopped after the closure was confirmed.

A City spokeswoman said last week that replacement parts have been sourced and the facility, which seats almost 380 people, is anticipated to be “operational again by the summer”.

The spokeswoman added: “Once we begin the necessary installation and remediation work, we will have a clearer timeline for reopening.”

The City will update the public when a reopening date is confirmed and apologised for any inconvenience the closure may have caused.
