Electric prizes on offer as cancer charity marks birthday

A charity dedicated to supporting those living with cancer has partnered with three companies for a unique fundraising raffle.

Pals Bermuda has announced that it is working with Auto Solutions, World Distributors and Belco for the “It’s Electric” raffle, which will run until May 2.

The charity said that 1,200 raffle tickets will be available at the cost of $100 each, with prizes including a Hyundai Kona EV, an NIU NGT Electric Motor Bike and a $1,000 Belco voucher.

Colleen English DeGrilla, the Pals executive director, said: “As Pals celebrates its 45th anniversary, we are focused on raising awareness about who we are and how we support cancer patients.

“Our multidisciplinary team, including six nurses, a palliative care physician and a medical social worker, provides comprehensive care at no cost to patients or their families.

“With an annual budget exceeding $2 million, fundraisers like this raffle are essential to ensuring we continue to serve the Bermuda community.”

Glen Smith, managing director of Auto Solutions, said the company was proud to support the charity and was donating a portion of the cost of the Kona EV for the cause.

“Cancer impacts so many of us, and Pals’s work is invaluable to our community,” Mr Smith said. “Their nurses travel across the island seven days a week, providing care and comfort to those in need. We’re honoured to play a role in their mission.”

Jason Cuoco, vice president of sales and managing director of World Distributors, added: “Cancer affects all of us and Bermuda is very fortunate for the work that Pals provides to those in need.

“Pals has provided this care for the last 45 years and, with all of our help, we can make it another 45. We consider this opportunity to help such a cherished organisation an honour.”
